As part of the Erber Group, Biomin is one of the world's leading providers in the animal nutrition industry and is represented in over 140 countries with the company group. The focus is on the production of sustainable and high-quality feed additives and premixes for a healthy and profitable animal production.

With the new production site in Haag am Hausruck in Upper Austria, the group invested a double-digit million amount in the sustainable expansion of the Austrian site. The goal was to establish one of the world's most modern mineral feed production plants, largely automated.

Biomin relied on the expertise of ESA's automation specialists to optimize their production processes. In addition to expansion possibilities and highest flexibility, the focus was on product safety, quality, traceability, transparency, and sustainability. ESA was commissioned in the spring of 2019 to automate the processes of the new plant. In the almost 20-year cooperation between the two companies, this is already the eighth location equipped with ESA technology. By March 2020, and therefore in less than a year turnaround time, an exemplary concept was implemented in practice.

The system provided by ESA offers the highest possible level of automation, while remaining so flexible that even special customer orders can be processed individually and within a few hours. Integrated processes and intelligent tools significantly contribute to further optimizing the high service level and product safety.

Hygiene and Contamination

The entire work is optimized in terms of cleaning, hygiene, and contamination prevention. The components are dosed in containers and transported with driverless transport systems and container lifts.

Standardized interfaces

Via data interfaces, both the driverless transport system and the narrow aisle forklift as well as the weighing and conveying technology can communicate with ESA. The plant visualization is done in the plant control room via the process and operator control system, which can also be operated on site via tablets.
