The family business Haubis has proven itselfas a guarantor of tradition and Austrian bread and pastry culture of the highest quality since 1902 - now in its fifth generation.

A universe of traditional and new recipes is transformed into a range of products every day by the more than 900 employees in certified quality and with carefully selected ingredients to fulfill every wish. 100 percent flour from Austria guarantees a high level of domestic value creation.

The main production site of Haubis GmbH is located in Petzenkirchen, Lower Austria. Production plants are also located in Wieselburg, St. Valentin, and Linz.

Although Haubis places great value on craftsmanship and traditional baking art, they rely on the latest technologies for ingredient management, recipe control, and quality assurance in administration. For these diverse tasks, they sought a reliable partner and found one in 2017 in the team of ESA Ges.m.b.H. in Wolfern, Upper Austria near Steyr.

Originally, the technology of recipe control had been implemented for many years, but the former partner was not as future-oriented, especially in batch traceability. The company looked around in the industry and quickly became aware of ESA, which had succeeded at Almi, an internationally known manufacturer of spice blends, sauces, or marinades.

Sophisticated modernization executed precisely.

Since the start of the cooperation in January 2018, several production lines have been equipped with ESA systems, including sourdough and dough pieces, which is quite a complex process, as old controls had to be removed and switched to new hardware and software within a few days.

However, with good planning in close coordination with ESA specialists, there were never any bottlenecks, and all conversion steps always met tight deadlines, as emphasized by the Haubis production management.

Recently, the example of a complex control of a sourdough system with five tanks once again demonstrated that the tight deadlines are met each weekend and how, thanks to the ESAweight modules ESAweight Manager, ESAweight Runtime, ESAcom, and ESAconnect for data exchange on 57 automatic and eight manual scales, the production process also meets the latest requirements for flexibility and quality.

Newly developed in the process was also the implementation of switching to a replacement item on a hand scale during active dosing. The system includes 1580 digital inputs and 1329 digital outputs as well as 150 analog inputs and two analog outputs.

Haubis has also benefited greatly from the changes in logistics in several raw material warehouses. The Haubis officials once again expressed great satisfaction with the project process and the result, which was achieved thanks to consultation, automation, electrical installation, planning, software, commissioning, project management, visualization, production support, switchgear construction, and hotline support.
